8. Can I customize the Patient Pod™ with our institution's or company's logo?

Yes. Our design partners (Fuzion Design Inc) can even make your Patient Pods in your preferred shape, size and colors.

1. Why is the hand hygiene provided by the Patient Pod™ so important?

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says good hand hygiene is the single biggest thing we can practice to keep us safe from hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). According to CDC figures, these infections lead to the deaths of nearly 100,000 people a year. The Patient Pod gives patients a role in keeping HAIs at bay, while improving patient care in ways that are holistic, intuitive and cost-effective.

2. What’s included with The Patient Pod™?

Personal PURELL hand sanitizer, PURELL sanitizing wipes, a cover for the remote control (plus a spare), a notepad and pen, an integrated message clip, a display area for a personal photograph and preferred name, a medical information card, and tips on having the best possible hospital stay.

3. Does having a Patient Pod™ guarantee I won’t get a hospital-acquired infection or other problem? No.

4. What’s with the “Pear” logo?

In a world of sharp instruments, chemical smells and stainless steel, there's nothing medicinal or clinical about a pear. It’s familar, sweet, whole, healthy, organic and green. It reflects our holistic approach to health and wellness. (And the apple was already taken.)

5. Who came up with The Patient Pod™ and why?

Patient safety advocate and former medical reporter Pat Mastors began working on what would become the Patient Pod following the prolonged hospitalization of her father, who succumbed to complications of a hospital-acquired infection in 2006. She solicited the input of families, caregivers and administrators to create something wonderful for patients, that also synthesizes the goals of the entire care team.

6. Can the Patient Pod™ be re-used?

It is designed and priced for per-patient use, but has multiple uses post-discharge as a personal storage unit (washing machine-safe).
